RRF #531

05/31/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hi everybody. How are you all doing today? Hopefully all is well, enjoyed your weekend, and getting ready for some more content after my little couple days off. For today, i’ll go from the X series, up to the Zero series. Today’s RRF is: ‘Pantheon Warrior’. Many many kinds of Pantheons from the Zero series, and today i’m going to cover another one from there. This Pantheon appears in the first Zero game. It’s a pretty generic one and has a very large fist. This one shouldn’t be confused with the Pantheon Fist from Zero 3. This Pantheon can sponge a little bit more damage then normal ones and it attacks be charging at you with its fist. Very simple, though its fist can deal out a fair bit amount of damage to you, especially in Hard Mode. This isn’t all it can do. It can also use its fist as a form of defense as well. It can use its fist to deflect shots from your Z-Buster and even block attacks from the Z-Saber and Triple Rod. It can be a little bit of a nuisance at times, but your strongest attacks are generally your best bets against these… unless you’re playing in Hard Mode. I personally like to destroy them with either the Z-Saber or the Triple Rod, and armed with the Thunder Chip, as it can stun there for a breif moment. Overall, they are a simple form of pantheon, though they can be a pain if you’re unprepared or if they knock away your shots.

That concludes todays RRF. Hope you all enjoyed and see you again tomorrow.

RRF #530

05/26/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hello everyone. How are you all doing today? Hope all is well. Well, here is “tomorrows” RRF, a few days late… again… i really should quit doing that, oh well, that’s life i suppose. Anyways, for today’s RRF, we’ll head over to the X series. Today’s RRF is: ‘Annihilator Hadoken’. Anyone remember this attack? Well, if you’ve played past the storyline in Rockman X Command Mission, and fought the Tails Clan, then you should definitely recognize this one… and probably bring back some painful memories, quite literally. Before i continure, this attack shouldn’t be confused with the special Hadoken you can acquire in X1. This attack is used by all members of the Tails Clan, from OneTail right to the leader NineTails and is one of the stronger of their attacks. They will charge it up and strike your entire party for some real serious damage. In some cases, it can be an instant KO, especially the higher up you go in the battles, though for the most part, it can drain a good at least 30+% of your parties HP. Blocking this attack can buffer some of the damage, but even so, this one still hits hard. While this attack is painful to take, it does look pretty spectacular, graphic and sprite-wise, one of the more neater looking attacks, though his combat attacks look just as nice. Overall, while its visually appealing to look it, it’s not appealing to be on the receiving end of it, and i’m generally happy and thankful the less they use of this move when i am battling them.

That concludes today’s RRF. Hope you all enjoyed it and see you all again soon.

RRF #529

05/22/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hello everybody. How are you today? It’s the weekend, and a long weekend here in Canada, so i see little reason not to be good. Anways, for today’s RRF, we’ll stick with both the EXE/BN series and Program Advances. Today’s RRF is: ‘Mother Quake’. Here’s another one-game wonder P.A., and another one from EXE/Battle Network 3. That game seemed to have a few of them… then again, they all did. While the game shortens the name to “MomQuake", it’s full name is Mother Quake. To activate this P.A., you’ll need 2 Rock Cube’s, in * format, and a GodStone, in S format. Its order is Rock Cube, Rock Cube, GodStone (to clarify, just in case). It has a pretty nice effect to it. When you activate it, time will freeze for a breif moment. Then the screen will start to shake violently and rocks will fall from the sky onto your opponent’s side of the battlefield. The rocks fall very randomly, so it can be a little unreliable, but its damage rating it quite nice. Each rock deals out 200HP of damage, and about 20-25 rocks will fall down. The smaller the enemies area is, means the higher chances it can strike your enemy, but the rocks will still fall at random. This P.A. can be an instant kill for very weak viruses, especially ones that don’t move or move very rarely or slowly, but can be considerably tougher to hits ones that move around alot. Overall, while its damage rating his pretty good, and a fair number of rocks fall down from the sky, its randomness is a little unreliable, especially when fighting bosses, but its at least worth giving a try in new strategies.

This concludes todays RRF. Hope you liked it and see you tomorrow.

RRF #528

Hi everybody. How are you all doing today? Hopefully all is well and getting ready for the weekend. For today, we’ll stay with EXE, but go from a DarkChip to a Program Advance. Today’s RRF is: ‘500 Barrier’. I’ve covered a few Program Advances before, and i’ve covered a lot of “one-hit wonder” style things before. For this RRF, we’re going to combine the two here. 500 Barrier is a Program Advance that appears only in EXE/Battle Network 3, in both versions, and is a barrier that can absorb 500HP of damage. Surprised? But why should you be? They gave it away with the number. To activate this Program Advance, you’ll need to use Barrier, Barrier 100 and Barrier 200, all of which in the same codes. They appear in codes “E” and “R", and one other that i can’t remember. This barrier is quite powerful and handy in VS battles, though can be erased with a Northern Wind. No big wind attributes in this game, so using a Wind or Fan or simple Air Shot wont do it here. Sure, Air Shot will damage it, but barely. Over 500HP of damage is needed to get rid of this, so having a really strong Attack level on your buster can help you out here, if you dont want to waster your battlechips. You can, of course, use any Battlechips you want against it, but you may want to save your chips for your enemy. This barrier is also nice to have against Navi battles in the game itself, but don’t get to carried away for V3 battles and the like, since some have strong attacks and before you know it, the 500Barrier will be gone. This P.A. also only appears in EXE3, so dont try it elsewhere. Overall, its a shame that its only a one-game wonder P.A., but its still a nice P.A. to use, though over-confidence can get the better of you with its ability to absorb 500HP.

That concludes today’s RRF. Hope everybody enjoyed and see you again tomorrow.

RRF #527

Hello everyone. How are you today? Good or something similiar is an answer that we’d all like to hear. For today, we’ll go back to the EXE/BattleNetwork series from the Zero series. Today’s RRF is: ‘Dark Cannon’. Here’s one of the DarkChips in the EXE series, and also one that isn’t in physical format in both the game and the toy collection. Dark Cannon only appears in EXE/BN 4 and can’t be obtained anywhere or put into your folder, like the DarkChips in EXE 5. This one, like all in EXE4, can only be obtained after Rockman goes into a worried state and after the second ShadeMan battle in the first playthrough of the storyline and then two DarkChips appear in the bottom screen. It’s random, but it can appear quite often. This DarkChip acts like a cross of both a Cannon and Muramasa Blade. While it’s icon is a dark and shady version of a Cannon/Hi-Cannon/M-Cannon, and it looks pretty cool as well, its power is determined on how much HP you’ve lost, and since you’re in a worried state, its very likely that you’ve lost a bit of HP. The more HP you lose, the stronger the DarkCannon’s attack power will be. If you “really” want to use this DarkChip, it can be useful in quickly deleting a navi that has high HP and the Cannon’s power is strong and they are in the same row as you are, but you’ll only get the DS version of the navi’s chip. Of course, there’s always risks with DarkChips, losing 1 permanent HP being the first one. Another one is, of course, going Dark. And, there’s also the glitch that the chip gives to you for using it. This one lowers your buster stats, and all of them; attack, speed and charge. Overall, while it can be a very powerful chip, and it looks quite nice and hits pretty hard, its risk as a DarkChip will more or less prevent you from wanting to use it… unless of course, you like to use DarkChips.

That concludes today’s episode of RRF. Hope everybody enjoyed it and i’ll see you tomorrow.

RRF #526

05/19/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hi everybody. How are we doing today? Hope all is good. No reason why it shouldn’t be good, right? Least not for me. Well, onto today’s RRF. Today, we’ll go from the EXE series to the Zero series. Today’s RRF is: ‘Andrew’. Anyone remember this old guy? Well, you should if you’ve played the first 3 Zero games. If not, well then wait for the Zero Collection to come out. Anyways, this old reploid is a member of the Resistance and he appears in the first 3 Zero games. He serves very little purpose in the game itself, apart from idle conversation, giving you a couple cyber-elfs and quizzes. Prior to the events of the Zero games, Andrew was a younger reploid (they age?) who had worked as a sailor, teacher and breadmaker. In the games he mentions that he was a sailor and had fallen in love with a lady, and eventually became modified to look older (they DO age). He gave one of his bread recipes to a descendant of Lucia, from Rockman ZX, whom you can get bread from. He was also a teacher and had educated Brise’s grandmother. Brise being a member of the Caravan from Zero 4. Apart from this, Andrew plays no real significant role (like i said earlier), apart from just common chit-chat and possibly a morale boost. He’s still an interesting character and nice to see a little bit of variety in reploids here, particularly in terms of age and mutliple jobs.

That concludes today’s RRF. Hope you all liked it and see you tomorrow.

RRF #525

05/18/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hello everyone. How are we all doing today? Hopefully all is well, enjoyed your weekend, and hopefully more excited for more content. For today’s RRF, we’ll head on over to the EXE series. Today’s RRF is: ‘Icicle Fall’. I know it may be close to summer, but its still cool outside sometimes. Anyways, this attack here is used by FreezeMan in EXE2. This attack consists of FreezeMan simply dropping 3 large shards of ice onto your area. One will always be directly above you, so you’ll need to avoid it, but you’ll also have to be careful, since of the IceStage FreezeMan has. If you’re in an Aqua-Style or repaired the panels, then moving will be a whole lot easier, but otherwise, you’ll slide around and you’ll need to take some extra care so as not to run into the other ones while trying to dodge one. You’ll generally have an idea as to when FreezeMan will use this attack, whether he is exposed or concealed in his ice shield, as his eyes generally glow yellow for a brief moment before the icicles come down on your area, so you’ll have a chance to get ready for this attack. This attack is also used in the Battlechip that he drops. Its also, strangely, the only Aqua-based Navi Summon in EXE2, since ToadMan’s does Elec damage. FreezeMan appears, hides inside his ice shield and drops several icicles onto your enemies row. A fair number will directly strike your enemy, but not all of them will, so it can be rather unreliable when battling HeatMan or NapalmMan, but it still can do nice damage as it mutli-hits and you can add some power boosters to it. Overall, while its an interesting attack… its only good and favorable for FreezeMan himself as his battlechip can’t be 100% relied on.

That concludes today’s RRF. Hope you all enjoyed it and see you again tomorrow.

Epsilon's Challenges, May 16, '10

05/16/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Epsilon's Challenge Stadium

Hello everybody. How are we today? Hope good, and since Epsilon is here, its time for another set of challenges, and these ones will be simple. Here they are:

Challenge 1:

Categories: Casual, Nintendo Hard

Get yourself in the top 30 in any stage in the Time Attack mode in Rockman 10… without cheating, extra points the higher you can rank… if you can.

Challenge 2:

Categories: Casual

Play Rockman X Command Mission, either PS2 or GameCube, and see how far you get before your party falls in battle. This means, once all 3 of the characters on screen have been KO’ed. If one or two coming KO’ed, you can revive them and as often as you have to, but your challenge ends once they all get KO’ed in battle. You can use any charcters and items/weapons you want.

That concludes this new set of challenges. Enjoy, have fun… and of course, no cheating.

RRF #524

05/14/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hello everyone. How are we all today? Hopefully all is good, and getting ready for yet another weekend. Aren’t weekends just the greatest? Well, when your not working, everyday is a weekend. For today, we’ll stick with the X series and look there. Today’s RRF is: ‘Weather Analyze’. Anyone remember this thing? I know I do… and if you’ve played Rockman X6, then you’ll recognize this thing. This object is the core block that helps create the strong acid rain in Rainy Turtloid’s home in the Inami Temple. For the beginning, its surrounded and protected by a strong barrier that shields it from every attack. In order to weaken and the destroy the barrier, you’ll need to hunt down and destroy the blue and red orbs located in the near area. These things are generally in plain view, though trying to get at them may be a bit tricky, since there may be mavericks, nightmares, spikes and other hazards close to them. As X, you can shoot them from a far, but as Zero, you’ll need to get close up to them. There are generally 3 or 4 of these orbs that you’ll need to get rid of. As you destroy these orbs, the colour of the barrier around the Weather Analyze will change, and once all of them are gone, then the Weather Analyze will be exposed and you’ll be able to attack it and destroy it. You’ll need to be quick since the acid rain will still be falling hard and some enemies may still be around. Destroying it is very easy, you can destroy it with pretty much anything, though i find rapid-fire and rapid-slashing works best. Once you destroy it, then the acid rain will stop in that certain area. If the acid rain starts up again, then you’ll know that there’s another one nearby in the area and you’ll need to hunt it down… and avoid the acid rain once again. Overall, while the concept behind it is extremely annoying, its still cool for this area, and it’s probably a good thing that it was in this level, otherwise X6 could’ve been even worse on the difficulty department.

That concludes today’s RRF. Hope you all enjoyed it and see you all soon.

RRF #523

05/13/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hi everybody. How are we all doing today? Hope all is good. After a small brief break from RRF, its back for more. Its really getting hard for content sometimes, but i always know where to find more goodies. Today’s RRF is: ‘Switch-type Elevator’. Generally elevators just go straight up and down, but these ones here defy normal logics… and possibly physics as well. Their main appearance is in a few stages in Rockman X2: Agile’s stage, Bubble Crab, Flame Stag, Wheel Gator and Crystal Snail’s to be exact. They also appear in X5 in Burn Dinorex and Dark Necrobat’s level. There are also others that could be considered (and i did), but they act a little bit differently. These little platform-like elevators have arrows on them and when X (or Zero in X5) stands on them, the arrows change directions and will travel along in that direction. In pretty much all cases, you’ll need to jump on them in order to get them to change directions. They’ll go from left to right to straight up. Some practice is needed to master them, but they are pretty easy to use. In X5, they have a mind of their own, especially the one in Dark Necrobat’s stage. This one here will travel by itself and on its own pattern. You’ll need to avoid spikes, enemies, bottomless holes and its own path in order to try and stay on it. With the Falcon Armour, you can fly around for a bit if you fall off, but otherwise, you’ll need time, patience and practice to master this one. You can also get the W-tank in this game by jumping properly off it at the end. I could also consider the ones that fall on their own by standing on them, but thats for another day.

That concludes today’s RRF. Hope you all enjoyed and see you tomorrow.

Telly's Top Lists #7

05/12/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Telly's Top Lists

Hi there everybody. How are we doing today? All is well im hoping, enjoying your week and wanting more goodies. I haven’t provided anything else since just before my holidays and just recently, so why not have some stuff here? I’ve been playing a fair bit of XCM and MM10 lately. my last Top Lists was weapons from MM9, so for this one, i’ll look at: The best weapons in MegaMan 10. Unlike MegaMan 9, some here are good and others aren’t. A rather good balance when you stop and think about it, can’t have a game thats all good and all bad. Without further ado, here there are (and in my opinion).

8: Thunder Wool

While electric weapons are usually good, and you’d think it would be in this game, considering it uses the same colours as Thunder Beam, but i find this weapon to be near useless. It takes up for too much weapon energy to use, its next to impossible to aim and there really are better weapons. It’s nice against PumpMan, but that’s it.

7: Rebound Striker

This bouncing ball weapon is much easier to aim with then Thunder Wool, especially since you can bounce it 4 times and control its original bounce with the D-pad, but much like Thunder Wool, it takes up way too much energy. This one also gets zero points for originality… we already had the Mega Ball in MegaMan 8.

6: Wheel Cutter

This one here also scores a zero on originality, could be considered a Metal Blade knock-off. While it uses normal weapon energy, it does take a few shots to bring down most enemies. It does have one nice feature to it, when you use it right up against a wall. Give it a try.

5: Commando Bomb

Almost all Classic games have some sort of bomb in it, and so does MegaMan 10. The bomb itself does very little damage, but the explosion aftermath does considerable damage… in fact, all main damage rated against enemies and bosses and based around this explosion. It goes in two directions and covers a fair bit of range. You can also change the bombs direction with the D-pad.

4: Chill Spike

While the initial shot itself does little to no damage, but freezing enemies in place, especially great big ones like the big trucks is nice and much like with Commando Bomb, its boss damage rating is determined by the actual spikes that they create rather then freezing them.

3: Solar Blaze

While it takes a couple units of energy to use this, its actually pretty nice to use. If it hits directly, its splits in half and fires off two waves in both directions… wait, this actually still works, whether it hits or not, it just takes a couple seconds. It does some pretty nice damage and it can pierce some shields and can hit enemies from behind as well.

2: Water Shield

The best weapon in MegaMan 9 (i think) was a shield, and the shield they made for MegaMan 10 was pretty nice too. While you can’t stand around and farm items and kill millions of foes in one place, this one creates 8 water bubbles that surround you. It can technically protect you from 8 shots and it can deal out somce pretty nice damage as well. If you have 1-8 bubbles left, case depending on how many get hit, you can also shot them out at your enemies in a spiral pattern as well. If they are all gone, then you just start a new one.

1: Triple Blade

BladeMan’s weapons takes the cake for the best weapon in the game. The three blades it fires off… hence the name (were you really surprised???) only use a single unit of energy, can hit multiple enemies and multiple times and your position can influence where they go. If your standing, they travel up, if your in the air, they travel down. They also deal out some serious damage to pretty much any enemy in the game. Its one i’m always seen using.

That concludes this edition of Telly’s Top Lists. Hope you enjoyed it and see you again soon.

RRF #522

05/09/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hi there everyone. How are you all doing today? Hope all is A-okay, enjoyed your weekend, and mother’s day. Can’t forget that, right? Anyways, onto RRF. Since i’ve been playing a lot of Rockman 10 lately, i figured we’d stay there today. Today’s RRF is: ‘Scuba Die-ving’. Weird name i know, and yes, it’s another one of the Challenges in the game as well. Much like with Chicken Race, this is also one in the first list that can be taken anytime you want. It’s also one where you can’t fire or use any of your master weapons… then again, with how short this one is, there really is no real need for them. Judging from part of the name, (or the horrible spelling. yes its actually spelled that way) its safe to say that it has something to do with water, and it does. This one simply consists of Rockman jumping down into a big water pit full of spikes all over the walls. The walls bulge out in some places, so the spikes still out and can easily run into them. For the first frame, you jump into the water straight in and watch out. For the second, you’ll want to move right since thats the way the spikes will come out. You dont want to go too far right, since on the third and fourth frame, the spikes will change up a little bit, and if you’re too far off, you’ll completely miss the goal and fall into a hole and die. Once you get to the third frame, you’ll want to start moving left right away since the goal on the fourth frame is on the left of the screen and with very little place to land. It seems a little tricky at first, but once you know where the spikes are, its very easy, just need to be careful not to crash into them or miss the goal. Overall, its a simple challenge, not to hard, thought its always best to be careful, since over-confidence or cockyness can make you lose it.

That concludes todays edition of RRF. Hope you enjoyed it and see you all again soon.

RRF #521

05/08/10 | by StenMan [mail] | Categories: Random Rockman Facts [RRF]

Hello everybody. How are you all today? Hopefully all well and ready for some new content. I’ve been away for a long time, but i’m back and ready for more. For today, we’ll go onto Rockman 10 and look at a challenge there. Today’s RRF is: ‘Chicken Race’. This is one of the first, and more easy of the challenges you can take, and this one is under category A, so you can take it anytime you want. This is also one of the ones where you can’t use any master weapons… or your buster for that matter, then again, there’s no enemies, so you really don’t need it. This challenge is simply Megaman walking from the start to the finish, pretty simple right? Not quite. There are a fair number of spikes along the walls here, and you’ll have to go up a couple ladders and jump down a small area. Again, it seems pretty simple, but it does get quite a bit tricky the further you get. This is mainly because the corridors that you have to jump down get narrower and narrower, making safe navigation considerly difficult. In the last ones, its only a couple of frames in between, you can die very easily here, so tread very carefully. Slow and steady really is a good thing here. Overall, its a pretty simple challenge, though it can be a bit tricky the first couple of times you do it, but once you beat it, then its rather easy.

That concludes todays RRF. Hope you all liked it and see you tomorrow.
