Hello everybody. How are we all doing today? Hopefully well, and hopefull my fellow Canadians enjoyed Canada and my friends to the south enjoyed 4th of July. While i’m still backing up RRFs and preparing for more, I figured I’d provide new goodies elsewhere. Since i’m also in a small rant mood, i’m going to be a little opinionated for this list. Today, we’ll take a look at: The Top 5 Annoying Things About MegaMan 9 & 10. This can apply to one or both of the games, but it’ll apply to the 2 newest games in the Classic series. And here they are, and in no order: (always remember, its my opinion)
1: Download Only. MM 9 & 10
I know many people have taken issues on this and if you have a decent Wi-Fi connection, it’s really not all that big of a deal, but i don’t exactly want to re-download the game if my console crashes or if i have to buy a new one for whatever reason. Having an actual physical copy of the game in the form of a CD or a Cartridge would kind of be nice.
2: No Slide/Charged Shot. MM 9 & 10
While they made up for this with the ProtoMan/Blues modes of the game, the Slide and Charged Shot were big staples of MegaMan in the latter games. Granted there was no Slide in MM 1 & 2, and no Charged Shot in 1, 2 & 3, they were still staples in the series and not having them, (ESPECIALLY in MM10) seemed a little cheap. Having one or the other in the game would be nice, even as an unlockable. I would be fine with having to pay a hundred screws to unlock it.
3: 8-Bit. MM 10
Having MegaMan 9 as an 8-bit game was fine, added the nice old-fashioned and nostalgic theme to it, but doing the same with MegaMan 10 seemed not only predictable, but also unoriginal and uninspiring. I liked the 8-bit theme to MM9, but having 16 or 32 wouldve been nice for MM10. I personally liked the 32-bit from MM8 and MM&Bass, and i think that it would go great on a Wii/PS3/XBox360. Just seemed rather lazy really.
4: Copies/Re-makes. MM 9 & 10
In this case here, its in terms of both designs for the Robot Masters and the music. Some of the music in both games are quite nice and some you can’t really tell where they came from, but others are almost blatantly obvious where they’re from. Re-makes and themes from WoodMan, QuickMan, HeatMan, etc etc. The designs of the Robot Masters in both games are mostly re-makes, inspired or not. ConcreteMan mimics GutsMan, MagmaMan mimics NeedleMan and NapalmMan, TornadoMan mimics Harpuia, SplashWoman mimics Leviathan, SolarMan mimics TopMan, CommandoMan mimics ToadMan……. okay, that’s getting repetitive, you get my point, they really lacked some serious originality.
5: “Box-Arts". MM 9 & 10
While both of these are nicely drawn and look much better then the original MM1 boxart, but having BOTH games with “box-arts” inspired from the original one really is not a good idea. Period. We all know that that box-art is crap. While the ones for MM9 and MM10 aren’t really all that bad, they could’ve done WAY better. In fact, why don’t they just settle with the original Japanese ones??? Just a thought.
That concludes this latest episode of Telly’s Top Lists. Hope everybody enjoyed and see you all again soon.
